CIBER Directors & Staff
The strength of the Penn Lauder CIBER team originates with its members. Drawn from the University of Pennsylvania and the Wharton School's community of scholars in international business, language acquisition, and cultural communication, Penn Lauder CIBER's leaders are highly respected researchers and educators in their fields.

Dr. Janice Bellace
Samuel A. Blank Professor of Legal Studies; Professor of Management; Associate Provost, University of Pennsylvania
Dr. Bellace's research interests include international human rights, freedom of association, American and European labor and employment law, labor law in Western Europe, European equal employment law, and American equal employment law.
She is currently working on a project on the social utility of international human rights standards as applied to employment.

Dr. Richard J. Herring
Jacob Safra Professor of International Banking; Professor of Finance
Dr. Herring's research interests include international banking, international finance, and money and banking. His current projects include the regulation of financial conglomerates and the development of bond markets.
Serving in multiple leadership roles, he is not only the Penn Lauder CIBER Faculty Director, but also leads the Lauder Institute as its Executive Director.

Dr. Steven Kobrin
William H. Wurster Professor of Multinational Management
Dr. Kobrin's research interests include international political economy, globalization, the politics of cyberspace, and privacy.
He is currently working on research on the political and social impacts of the information revolution, governance of cyberspace, global governance, the US-EU data privacy dispute, and cyberspace and territoriality.

Managing Director

Dr. Sherrill M. Davis
Dr. Davis joined the Lauder Institute more than eight years ago as its Managing Director and has led Penn Lauder CIBER since its creation.
As the Managing Director, Dr. Davis overseas all aspects of Penn Lauder CIBER and works closely with the Wharton Graduate Division and the School of Arts & Sciences in the planning and execution of the grant's programs and activities.

Program Coordinator

Chidimma Agwu-Jones
Chidimma joins us from the Office of Academic Affairs at Penn's School
of Dental Medicine, where she had worked since 2001. Prior to coming to
Penn, she worked at the Africaribe Microenterprise Network in
Washington, DC. Chidimma's undergraduate degree is from the University
of Virginia in French Language and Literature, with a minor in Spanish.
She has earned a certificate as an English as a Second Language
Specialist from Penn's Graduate School of Education and expects to
receive her MS in Education, Intercultural Communication, also from GSE,
this December.

Business Language Consultant

Maria Antonia Cowles (Email)
Toni retired from her nearly 14-year role as the Language Programs Director at the Lauder Institute
in 2003 but still serves as a pedagogical consultant for Penn Lauder CIBER. She maintains an active leadership role
in Penn Lauder CIBER and is a member of the ad-hoc CIBER language committee.
