Global Consulting PracticumThe Global Consulting Practicum (GCP) is a for-credit, cross-functional, globally oriented program designed for MBA Students interested in gaining experience in international business and consulting. Global teams comprised of Wharton MBA students and MBA students from other leading international business schools work with top managers of international client firms under the guidance of faculty from the participating schools. With the projects spanning six countries (Chile, Colombia, India, Israel, Peru, and China) and a myriad of industries, the GCP provides MBA students with the opportunity to research and develop marketing plans and tackle real-life business issues in cross-cultural and multi-lingual teams. Penn Lauder CIBER supports GCP's collaboration with Partnerships and Technology for Sustainability (PaTS), a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the rainforests of Peru through the economic development of its indigenous population. Through CIBER funding, Lisa M. Linn de Barona, the GCP office manager, was able to accompany the Wharton team to Peru in January 2005 and to conduct ethnographic observations on the interactions between the Wharton and Peruvian team members. The findings from this research will be incorporated into her Master's thesis research in Intercultural Communication at Penn's Graduate School of Education. The GCP trip to Peru was recently featured in the Wharton Alumni Magazine. Read the story. [top] |
